New web site style

Postby simargl » 11 Oct 2014, 15:22

There is now a new web site in place to substitute old one which have used Arch style
http://alphaos.tuxfamily.org/

New one is based on this nice free template:
http://www.opendesigns.org/design/theme-4/

Thanks to CodingDev http://codingdev.de/ (site seems not accessible ATM)

I've put web site files on github
https://github.com/alphaos/web-site

I'm making some small fixes for Gtk 3.14 (from Arch testing repo), replaced some deprecated functions, and for now things look in pretty good state. I'll make a new iso, some time after gnome 3.14 moves to Arch stable repo.

possible spelling error?

Modern applications, based exclusively on the latest Gtk+3 toolit

In second heading

Maybe it should be "toolkit"

The new site looks nice. Looking forward to a new iso possibly, with a recent rollback date too :)
Cheers.

I love the new site "look".
But I am still deeply concerned that one day you (simargl) wake up fed up with having to maintain everything in alphaos.
If that day ever comes, I will probably abandon linux because I won't go back to what I did before I found alphaos, using bloated gigabyte distros. And puppy/dsl are simply not cut out for me.
Apart from that, are we (alphaos) going to stick with Gtk or are we moving to Qt as soon as we find a stable web browser that uses Qt?
Cheers

I share that eerie feeling, Maybe sim would be more inclined to stay on if alphaos got more followers?

That's a sad sentiment, Would you go back to windows then?
I probably wouldn't, would try to find some lite linux without systemd
or maybe go BSD

Puppy could probably be altered to my needs

I think it is a matter of size. Isn't Qt a bit large?

Anyway I really like gtkdialog, great for bash script frontends
Cuts down on dependencies of all them other dialogs like
Xdialog, yad and yaf-splash

Maybe something similar exist for Qt?
