[SOLVED] Mounting sfs on test version

Postby rodyaj » 29 Oct 2013, 17:10

Hi. How do we mount additional .sfs files on the test iso without sfs_load? Do we need to make a script that mounts the sfs files onto the root directory? Are there any additional parameters we need to mount the sfs or just a simple mount command will do? Thanks.

Hi rodyaj

Here is script for loading and unloading modules on the fly
http://alphaos.tuxfamily.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=922#p1695

Only modules now have sb extension (short for Slax Bundle), but sfs and sb are same thing, so you can just rename sfs to sb and load it.

Hi,
Still exploring this but AFAIK you can put .sfs files renamed to .sb in the modules folder or just in the same folder as the alpha_12 and extra_12 and they will be loaded on next boot.
The nice thing about this system is that you can make a .sb "override" another by renaming it so that it becomes further in the alphabet.
Example:
You want to change /root/.start and/or any other files that are in alpha_12.sb or extra_12.sb, then create e.g. zz-mychanges.sb and it will overwrite all existing files.(which is not the case with .sfs's loaded with sfs_load, it's just an addition and won't overwrite existing files)
Hope this is clear explanation (my english is not very well)
