trouble with linux-headers

Postby mittald » 12 Nov 2014, 02:07

Hi, new user here.

I'm trying to get my broadcom wireless chip working with the broadcom-wl-dkms aur pkgbuild, but I'm having a lot of trouble with kernel headers. I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong here, but I can't seem to figure out what.

I grabbed the linux_3.17.1_src.sb file from the sourceforge page along with devel_16.sb. While the development packages seem to be working (have have gcc, etc.), the headers file throws errors:

During the "Adding bundles to union" step of the boot process, I get:

Code: Select all

linux_3.17.1_src.sb
mount: mounting ll on /memory/bundles/linux_3.17.1_src.sb failed: Invalid

the line appears to continue, but does not fit on the screen (the resolution doesn't adjust itself until after this)

If I try to load the headers manually with bundle, I get:

Code: Select all

[root@alphaos ~]# bundle -a ./linux_3.17.1_src.sb
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/loop9,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error

In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
       dmesg | tail or so.
==> Bundle './linux_3.17.1_src.sb' activated

[root@alphaos ~]# cd /usr/lib/modules/3.17.1-ALPHAOS/build
bash: cd: /usr/lib/modules/3.17.1-ALPHAOS/build: No such file or directory

I see this same error message if I execute the bundle on the ext4 filesystem where the boot files are kept as well.

What am I missing?
Thanks!

Thanks, that did the trick. It hadn't even occurred to me that the problem was with the downloaded file.

Yeah, as soon as I had the headers working properly, I was able to use dkms and load the broadcom wl module.
