Is there an easy way to add link/files on the desktop?

Is there an easy way to add some custom shortcut/link and files on the desktop the classic way? I cannot find it as a feature anywhere. Any programs in arch repository that could do it? a feature request.

spacefm has a desktop manager

You could add to /root/.start
(I think after tint2 but before conky? you have to test)

Code: Select all

spacefm --desktop

WALLPAPER=$(gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.background picture-uri | sed 's|file://||g' | cut -c 2-)
WALLPAPER=${WALLPAPER%?}

# You may have to sleep here?
sleep 1

spacefm --set-wallpaper "$WALLPAPER"

also if you use spacefm to manage desktop the wpset command in /root/start will be obsolete
and can be commented out

Code: Select all

#wpset-shell --init &

To add a file to desktop copy it to /root/Desktop
if you want like a dekstop shortcut I believe you use *.desktop file same as for menu?
for examples check /usr/share/applications/

! it worked,
the funny thing is this, after running .start (again) by mistake the default alphaos special widget came alongside with spacefm desktop, the clock info etc.

thanks, very useful
