Do you need fstab to make it work?
if your'e OK with swapfile have a look at
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1160
apparently swap partitions are faster and yes fstab is needed fro it to start at boot up. I am currently starting it with .start thought, but this way i have to sign in to root first before i can sign in to alpha. Now that i think of it, I have to do this anyway for vbox shared folder to work.
So i guess its okay, I like the swap-file program though. might even download it just in-case.
