COntrol VOlume, Where is it?

Postby ggg » 27 Jul 2014, 18:24

Hi there. I'm testing the latest version of Alphaos on my hard drive and I have a problem: volume control does not appear.
The console returns me this:

[root@alphaos ~]# volumeicon
volumeicon: alsa_backend.c:92: asound_get_volume: Assertion `m_elem != ((void *)0)' failed.
Aborted

Gracias

Not sure what this problem is?

Maybe compile a newer version of volumeicon???

or

change in /root/.config/volumeicon/volumeicon

Code: Select all

[Alsa]
card=default
channel=PCM

It did not work. I have a new machine with hdmi. When I run alsamixer I get the following:

I select sound-card and have this:

and this:

But when I open alsamixer returns to 0.
And when I put yaourt "alsa" I get:

where alsa-firmware is not installed. This is fine?

Thanks

Sim hsa to answer the question about alsa-firmware but
does it work if you install it? For me it works without it

Also did you try in /root/.config/volumeicon/volumeico

Code: Select all

[Alsa]
card=1
channel=PCM

For HDMI sound to work, you may try un-muting all S/PDIF entries in alsamixer by pressing the letter "m" in each case, like below:
Use tab key to access S/PDIF if it is not seen on the first screen of alsamixer.

Cheers.

I did and was not resolved. Apparently it is a driver problem. It may be?

I solved the issue of sound. Now I have sound. But the volume button is still missing. As for the solution, I found on this page:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ad ... sound_card.
Apparently, the system had as default sound card hdmi instead of analog.
I also had to change something in the bios about the usb devices that did not capture my webcam.
I shall address the issue of volume control that is still missing, although the keys or keyboard shortcuts work properly to raise or lower the volume without having had to touch anything.
Thank you
