OK, Could it be because basedir is not created before?

could you try

Code: Select all

mkdir -p /etc/network-wizard/wireless/wpa_profiles

and then try write its config files

*EDIT*
I just checked that dir did not exist in plain alphaOS iso
For me it worked cause I dumped in module .sb with my wlan config

Thanks for find, I am sure the mkdir will fix it now

hi,
taking some time to test your iso.
booting on usb live.

writing this post under your system :).

booting on X directly :

usb mouse and usb keyboard work. The booting time seem to be little more quick than the previous version. All seem normal. so i go to read the vdev log.
all rights execpt for loop (another errors are knowing). this is the output

logged directly with root privilegies!!!!?? not on alphaos user. well about security, i think isn't good :(.
trying some prog from dlauncher from tint2 (perhaps tint2conf is a good idea for configure tint, not present on your system):
all seem working..... and not lol, control center crash the system. mouse always available but impossible to make anything. So trying to pass on another tty with ctrl+alt+f2, ok work. Entering the password for root (toor), console display information about last login but nothing more, i don't have the possibility to use it. So at this step i need to do : ctrl+alt+sup. Ok works, the system reboot.

second test after reboot.
trying to install htop, works(i need to launch dhcpcd before, internet isn't available directly at boot). trying to install arora..... pacman install libsystemd hoooooooo :(.not blocked at the base??!! well going to see pacman.conf.
obarun repo in first place (yeaaaaaah lol)(you have now a repository archive on my repo if you want http://www.obarun.org/src/$arch/archive), ignorePackage and noextract not configured :(.
so i'm little curious, i go to see your /etc/rc.d/functions, finding this line : UDEV="/usr/lib/systemd/systemd-udevd". Really??? i go to see this file.... not found :(. so i'm little confused....seem to be a forgotten.
i'm continuing to read, no swap enabled..... make a option in you rc.conf to enable it at the demand seem to be a good idea, i think.

Well, trying the sound..... no sound. starting alsamixer, all seem good. inspecting /dev/snd, all seem good. trying to make a test with the command

Code: Select all

[root@alphaos ~]# speaker-test -c 2
speaker-test 1.0.29
Playback device is default
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 2 channels
Using 16 octaves of pink noise
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1024:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
Playback open error: -2,No such file or directory

Code: Select all

[root@alphaos ~]# ls -la /usr/lib | grep systemd
drwxr-xr-x   5 root root       60 Dec 16 02:28 systemd

:(

Well this is the first report :). Your work is really clean; very good work

ps: can you tell me where you find dlauncher menu please?

I edited your log to keep relevant data
VBoxUser due to missing usergroup vbosuser is fixed locally
pvs is if you want solved by installing lvm, I muted it for the next release

and that leaves the above errors on loop devices.
What have you got on loop3-loop7 ?
If you run blkid on them in terminal what happens?

Some useful information but nothing really strange, yeah?

Yeah it's a leagacy from the roots of alphaOS in puppy linux.

It's up to user to decide if they want libsystemd or not is my philosophy on the matter

Not forgotten but a remnant from last version using udev, will clean /etc/rc.d/functions once vdev falls into place

obarun wrote:i'm continuing to read, no swap enabled..... make a option in you rc.conf to enable it at the demand seem to be a good idea, i think.

There is a problem how livekit handles /etc/fstab so cannot use it for swap as was the thought in earlier alphaOS versions
Sure could be worked around, Will give it some thoght

Me personally like to run without swap

:(

I have it to, it just contain *.service files they are not used.
Comes with a lot of packages in arch

For me I don't have to eradicate every trace of systemd, I am happy to have a system with it not running.

finished my new release v0.5.1 (no really change just following the C++ABI upgrade). so i have a little time to make a second test ....
downloaded again the iso and rewrite the usb stick

and that leaves the above errors on loop devices.
What have you got on loop3-loop7 ?

this issue is not longer available on the log, very strange 0o !!

Could you run it from a terminal window and tell me the output when it crashes?

not the case anymore too...

well persistent issue. adding file .asoundrc in /root with this line

Code: Select all

pcm.!default {
        type hw
        card 1
}

ctl.!default {
        type hw
        card 0
}

the issue is solved :)

Did not understand completely what happened there?

simple i go to another tty with the shortkey Alt+Ctrl+F2. i'm put the login (root) and the passwd (toor). So the console tell me

Code: Select all

Last Login : blablabla tty2

but a don't have a shell, after a few moment the console ask me for the login again.

trying to makesb for firefox, this is the output

Code: Select all

makesb firefox
==> Downloading firefox
/usr/bin/makesb: line 57: apacman: command not found
==> apacman exited with an error!

may be i do something wrong

Your system is reallllyyyyyy fast, an impressive work (i'm little jaloux lol). keep the good work man. :)

Is the problem with sound because you have two cards?

So I am not sure how to incorporate that in iso if it depends on if you got one or two cards?

No you did nothing wrong, apacman did end up in devel_17.sb for historic reasons.
This is a bug and I will move apacman in next release.

If you load devel_17.sb it will work.
Download it here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/alphaos ... b/download

obarun wrote:only one sound card on my system

I read up about .asoundrc apparently it should work without one according to
http://alsa.opensrc.org/Asoundrc#What_i ... ant_one.3F

AlphaOS uses version 1.0.29 so this should work

For some reason yours doesn't work out of the box but I don't know if the file you suggested
is default or something that suits your particular system?

I saw there was a script to auto create this file for any particular system
see
http://alsa.opensrc.org/Asoundrc#Simple ... undrc_file

Code: Select all

#!/bin/bash
# asoundrc v0.1.0 20090101 markc@renta.net GPLv3
# asoundrc v0.2.0 20090320 quatro_por_quatro@yahoo.es GPLv3
#
# A simple script to create a particular default audio device regardless
# of what cards are loaded or in what order. It could be used anytime or
# placed in a ~/.bashrc script for a persistent setup every login.
#
# Usage: asoundrc [DEFAULT_CARD] > ~/.asoundrc

# use the first parameter as the card name, or else
# look for the sound card, discarding those that are only microphones
# when there are multiple cards, use the first one
if default_card="${1:-$(cat "$(for f in $(ls -1 /proc/asound/card[0-9]*/{midi,codec}* 2>/dev/null); do echo "${f%/*}"; done \
| sed -e '\|^[\[:blank:]\]$|d' -e 'q')/id" 2>/dev/null)}"; then
echo "Using sound card: ${default_card}" >&2
   cat /proc/asound/card[0-9]*/id | \
   gawk --assign default_card="${default_card}" \
'{print "pcm."$1" { type hw; card "$1"; }\nctl."$1" { type hw; card "$1"; }" }
END {print "pcm.!default pcm."default_card"\nctl.!default ctl."default_card}'
else
echo "Warning: No sound cards found." >&2
fi

Would this create a working .asoundrc on your system?

Maybe the solution is to advise user with sound trouble of this possible way of solving the issue?

For some reason yours doesn't work out of the box but I don't know if the file you suggested
is default or something that suits your particular system?

default

I saw there was a script to auto create this file for any particular system
see
http://alsa.opensrc.org/Asoundrc#Simple ... undrc_file

i use this on obarun (directly available on iso) : https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/asoundconf

this is a simple script writen in python with a gtk gui.
very useful because is create automaticly the good file .asoundrc for any hardware used (pulseaudio too). So if people have issue with sound, simple launch the script and the sound work :)

Is that a pythonized version of the bash script?

I will check it

*edit*
It is not.
checked it and it looked to complex for the task.
As I said above
I read up about .asoundrc apparently it should work without one according to
http://alsa.opensrc.org/Asoundrc#What_i ... ant_one.3F

I like the bash script better and will provide that for those cases that need it.
I can also, thanks to you, point them in the direction of the python AUR package
