Hi sim,
connman works with wifi! I only added

Code: Select all

wpa_supplicant -u &
to /root/.start and now I can see all wifi hotspots near me and I am able to connect using my wifi :)
Writing from V14.4 which is no more. Will download and try V14.5 when it becomes fully available.
Cheers.

That is very good news if it's possible to remove Frisbee and switch to GTK3 based network manager. Still, firefox prevents removing GTK2, and flash doesn't work in GTK3 browsers - tested in midori-gtk3 version.

Version 14.5?

I see... we have to improve on our communication skills.

Obviously you made your point.

Anyway, testing it as we speak...

Now we have 2014 and it would make sense if the major version number (14) would denote the year.
Also if the minor version number would denote the month of the release.

I don't have any special preference about that, but 3 main bundles should have an addition in name to represent their version. Maybe devel_14.sb as it is now looks better than devel_1404.sb for example.

When I tried I got

Code: Select all

> connmand -n
Connection ":1.3" is not allowed to own the service "net.connman" due to security policies in the configuration file

Could you elaborate on your setup?
I tried to edit conf file but it didnt work?

I'm on 14.5 but I will try on 14.4

*EDIT*

now on 14.4

did

Code: Select all

wpa_supplicant -u &
connmanctl scan wifi
< got list of wifi's>
connmanctl connect wifi_ac72899b1117_4b41565f4f50454e_managed_none

now connected fine!? Not sure what I did wrong in 14.5 but sims configure in 14.4 seems good!

Still I think many ordinary users may miss GUI of frisbee.
I think connman-gui doesnt add anything of worth really since I have to do all the hard work at terminal anyway.

Maybe it can autoconnect so its only first time configuring, then it would be better.

Where is config files for connman?

On arch wiki they talk about /etc/connman/main.conf but I aint got it?

Are conf of connections kept by wpa_supplicant?

I'm thinking of this with autoconnect in mind?

*EDIT*

I tried out autoconnect with below from a connected network

Code: Select all

connmanctl config wifi_ac72899b1117_4b41565f4f50454e_managed_none --autoconnect yes

next time I booted no network but when I did wpa_supplicant -u it automatically connected to correct network :)

Still I wonder where the config file is located?

*EDIT 2*
Found it at

/var/lib/connman/wifi_ac72899b1117_4b41565f4f50454e_managed_none/settings

Maybe one could base frisbee on connman instead of wpa_supplicant and dhcpcd directly?

I added

Code: Select all

 wpa_supplicant -u &
and

Code: Select all

connman-ui-gtk &
to /root/.start. After reboot, connman icon appears in the tint2 taskbar. I then changed to wifi in the right-click menu and selected my wifi. Settings are remembered after reboot too. Yes, this was done in V14,4. I think sim removed connman and reverted to frisbee in V14.5 so the setup may be different.

Connman's automatic connection seems a breeze. Only problem is the popup window of available wifi points is too small, making reading quite difficult. I read some where that before compiling,

Code: Select all

A very dirty hack to solve the problem is adding this line:

gtk_widget_set_size_request(cui_left_menu, -1, 150);

before

115 gtk_menu_popup(cui_left_menu, NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL, 1, 0);

line 115, file src/left-menu.c

Cheers.
