Re: Version for 64 bits machines

There is Sensei64, Puppy derivative based on FatDog with added pacman http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=85346, maybe try that one... As john3voltas mentioned I can only make 32-bit releases.

Re: Very impressed

When it is meant for full installation iso size is not that important, I think 500MB is not bad at all. I tried ArchBang in 2010 or 2011 and liked it, for openbox and similarity with crunchbang. Keep things simple that is good idea. From another Arch based systems few days ago I tried antergos with ...

Re: Very impressed

Hi, For small size most important thing is squashfs with xz compression, same compressed file system that allowed Slax for example to be under 200MB with KDE4 included. Next, kernel is recompiled to add aufs support and resulting package is 17MB, while original from Arch is 45MB, then removed /usr/s...

Re: v7.0 thanks for it

Thanks for your comment. :) Actually I returned to version 6.1 that was compiled from scratch with my package manager, updated some packages and use that one as main system. Version 7 is backup system and it's useful for easy testing some programs with heavy dependencies like webkit or kde, or maybe...

Re: Hal deamon

Hi, I think hal is replaced by udev long ago, but you can try to build hal package from the AUR https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/hal/ , with packer -S hal . It's strange that k3b need hal, because does not list it as dependency https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/i686/k3b/

Re: noob questions

To add desktop icons in /root/.start comment first line imlibsetroot... and add spacefm --desktop & bellow, then just go to /usr/share/applications and copy files from there directly to desktop. Problem is that openbox right click menu is then replaced with menu from spacefm, but that can be dis...

Marv wrote:What about just fixing the symlinks in /usr/local/sbin to point to /usr/sbin where Arch now has those files?

That's the way I used, thanks Marv, new alphaOS_7.0-20130522.iso is uploaded http://sourceforge.net/projects/alphaos/files. :)

Re: noob questions

Hi I always make frugal installation on my 20GB ext4 partition, that is main advantage to have small and portable Puppy style Arch system and use pacman, with full install it would be just like regular Arch and this work would lose its purpose. Reinstalling simply is equal to replacing those 4 syste...
