Re: Update 14.3

The windows picture only talks about the installed 32 bit operating system and the type of cpu that is installed. (Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8600 @ 2.40GHz) This intel web page tells me that you have a cpu with a 64 bit instruction set. Now you know why you can run a 64 bit os. Be happy

Re: SHOULD I BE WORRIED?

First in spkg data/main.config change date, then install with make install then type: paka -Sy in packages.list directory type: paka list those packages in red, are not available because they were upgraded between those two dates then you type: paka shell and for packages in red, you find new packa...

Re: Update 14.3

Yeah, was wondering about that myself when I read it... On a different note: I know I do not have a say in this, but I say it anyway... Maybe alphaos could adapt an understandable version scheme. Now we have 2014 and it would make sense if the major version number (14) would denote the year. Also if...

Re: FireFox alternatives in GTK3?

While we are at it:
extract everything that can't be considered as a part of the os out of extra.sb and move it into the modules dir.
Suppose the only thing to keep in mind then is which sb module needs to be loaded before the other...

Re: FireFox alternatives in GTK3?

I've used qupzilla in the past (not this version) and the only thing that stood out was that it "felt" snappier. Other than that I remember frequent crashes (however it was quite a while when I tried it, could be different now). If firefox is OK with size and functionality, what about fire...

FireFox alternatives in GTK3?

To free completely from gtk2, firefox also needs replacement. And I think this one looks good http://www.slimboat.com/en/ All needed libraries are included except libpng12, it installs under /opt, and package size is 21 MB, firefox is 28MB. It's a bummer it's not open source. What about Midori for ...

Re: Vala strip

Strip removes or modifies the symbol table attached to the output of the assembler and linker. This is useful to save space after a program has been debugged and to limit dynamically bound symbols. It's part of the gcc package (vala converts vala code to c, gcc processes the c file and invokes the a...

Re: How to: Run GTK+ programs under Wayland

Wayland might become the primary display server and replacing X on several distros in 2014. My understanding is that it will provide a snappier experience than X, which is nice if true. However, did not find any hint on the internet if Openbox will run on Wayland (without xwayland). It is my underst...

Re: problem mounting changes.fs4 to /memory/changes

Alphaos is running what is equivalent to pupmode 12 in puppy linux Thank you for the nice pictures. BTW: The difference between pupmode 12 and pupmode 13 is the additional read only safe-file, but what kind of settings/files are in that setfile? Are these settings/files that alphaOS has in extras.sb?
