IRC - #alphaos at Freenode

Just to remind you all that I have registered #alphaos at Freenode network so that we can chat about alphaOS. I haven't been online due to some personal issues but I intend to be online as much as I can starting in August. You can log on using your regular IRC client but if you don't have one and yo...

Re: Wireless connection in 7.0

For the time being, I guess I can live with alphaOS 7. Just edited .start to add "rfkill unblock all" on the 1st line but that's not enough. That wakes up the wifi-radio but then I still have to open Pwireless2 and press the "restart wpa_supplicant" button. Is there a way to do t...

Re: alphaOS 8 - eating up cpu...

That's interesting, then we can say almost for sure that eudev is cause of high cpu usage with kworker. Interesting to see that it does not affect every PC running 8.0. I mean, here at home if afects both my laptop and my wife's netbook but apparently Marv and you don't see such issues on y...

Re: Wireless connection in 7.0

I think pwireless2 connection program might be a little buggy Yea, it could well be a bug in Pwireless2. And, what about wireless connection in version 8, is there more success now? No way. 8 simply won't cooperate with wifi... :( I don't mind running an older version of alphaOS like 7 (it's got pa...

Re: Wireless connection in 7.0

Hi guys. Update on the wifi novel: just tried alphaOS with rfkill and as expected the radio came back to life. Then I opened Pwireless2 and pressed refresh a lot of times but it didn't work. So I moved to the "debug" tab and pressed the "Reset Wpa_supplicant" button. Then I moved...

Re: alphaOS 8 - eating up cpu...

Hi guys.
Just for the record, I just tried with both alphaOS 6 and 7 and neither of these show the kworker/cpu eating behavior.
Cheers

alphaOS 8 - eating up cpu...

Today while testing the wifi on 8.0 I found a different issue. When I boot up 8.0 (no savefile) and let it finish boot-up, I notice that my CPU is being used (~15%). Take a look at it: http://i41.tinypic.com/fnbuj9.png (if you can't see the whole picture, right-click it and choose "view image&q...

Re: Wireless connection in 7.0

You can download rfkill from https://www.archlinux.org/packages/core/i686/rfkill/ , then install with pacman -U full-pkg-name... Great. Will test ASAP and post my findings. Well it kind of worked. I mean, I did install rfkill and when I ran "rfkill unblock all" the wifi-radio came back to...

If it's needed I will add rfkill package off course ;) Well, that would be more like a workaround than a proper fix, right? I ...
