Re: Version 16.x Final has been released

Well simargl, thank you for your hard work and that you let me be a part of your project. Questions: How long will the AlphaOS Web page be available? Will you shut down this forum anytime soon? What is the state of the " Building alphaOS from source " instructions? Is there an AlphaOS user...

Re: Douane Personal Linux Firewall

Had to install "init-functions" from aur otherwise douane would give an error message. But for this I had to change the PKGBUILD file because the init-functions file from the ubuntu archive in PKGBUILD is not available anymore. I used: http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/l/lsb/lsb_4...

Re: Douane Personal Linux Firewall

Also the fact that alphaos is not using systemd could possibly be not helping allthough systemd is included in alphaos we use sysvinit I think we have it for udev support Did not know that... My thought was: Ar...

Re: Douane Personal Linux Firewall

Had time to look into this. After installing all the dependencies I was able to compile everything. (at least it seems that way) However I was unable to start the Douane service. Douane was developed under Ubuntu without systemd (they used to use upstart). So I tried: systemctl enable douane but Dou...

Re: Douane Personal Linux Firewall

No I did not install it yet, it's on my to-do list.
Reading the instructions it shouldn't be to difficult to do.
Hope to have time this coming weekend.
Will certainly keep you informed.

Douane Personal Linux Firewall

Hi, found Douane, a personal firewall: http://douaneapp.com/ and thought it might be a good addition to alphaOS. The code (GTK3): https://github.com/Douane/Douane/wiki/Compilation The Wiki: https://github.com/Douane/Douane/wiki/Dependencies The arch Linux package: https://github.com/Douane/Douane/wi...

Re: Taeni terminal emulator

One thing I saw (and thought was pretty cool) was a terminal that showed the return value of an application (when it ends). It looked like an editor, only that the column on the far left did not show the line numbers, but the return values (if available). Seems it could be a pretty useful future for...

Re: Version 16.x Final has been released

... Like the launcher as well. Anything more? Don't know how it happened, but at one point in time the launcher didn't show up anymore. I think it was some combination of going back and forth between the right click desktop menu and the launcher. Not sure though. (can't try it out at the moment...) ...
