Re: Do you consider windows malware?

...Besides they're all CPU hogs. ... Tell me about it. Sometimes the Xeon workstation slows down so much, that it reminds me of the good old 80' switching on the 286 workstation before fetching some coffee in the lunchroom. (... and hoping it finished booting when back) ... The only way of effectiv...

Re: Do you consider windows malware?

No consideration of windows malware here.
Only Linux and MacOS in this household.
Have to use Windows 7 at work, but malware is taken care of by corporate software.

Re: To be based on Manajro?

Having several Linux machines I use both, alphaOS and ManjaroBox. (both use OpenBox, pacman, etc.) Both have their strength and their merit. Basing alphaOS on Manjaro instead of arch would make alphaOS obsolete, and here is why: The philosophy of alphaOS is beeing a small OS that comes only with rea...

Re: Voyager - Image viewer in Vala

@john3voltas It looks like I lost you with my convoluted post, sorry for that. I said: Bottom line: The image rotation function itself is loss-less in the sense that no image information is lost during rotation, but saving the image information to a jpeg file is lossy... This matches what you are ex...

Re: Voyager - Image viewer in Vala

What sim did is load a jpeg file and save the image twice: one rotated clockwise and the other counterclockwise. The sizes are smaller because jpeg can be saved in different compression ratios. A word about jpeg and loss-less: If you load a jpeg the image is not loss-less because jpeg is lossy to st...

Re: Voyager - Image viewer in Vala

It should be lossless.
If an os API doesn't explicitly mention JPEG (or other formats) it will assume buffers with raw pixels.

sb file format

In regards to have software bundles available to all users: maybe we can put them on sourceforge. In any case the directory they would reside has to explicitly mention the alphaOS version, like: sb15. Also all sb files would need to have the sb15 note in their name. For now I attach the software ver...

Re: frisbee

Both, frisbie and conman work fine here.
However I think it's a very good idea to bundle them up.
AlphaOS users could pick and choose what's best for them.
Nice!
