Re: gnome-mplayer and dvds

Hi John, This isn't a high priority as the laptop at my wifes shop has several other pups on it and she seems happiest with the lina-lite 005 with an office and a music sfs loaded, but I pick away at it when I have time. I do have it set up to use mplayer2 and with /dev/sr0 as the dvd source and gno...

[SOLVED] gnome-mplayer and dvds

Need some help from the multimedia folks. mplayer run from terminal plays dvds just fine, it is in /usr/bin and actually is mplayer2. I did make a symlink /dev/dvd to /dev/sr0. gnome-mplayer however finds and loads the dvd and then just stops (goes to idle and will not play). Is there something I ne...

I have been. I'm sure it's ok, it's clearly just spam. If it's in a language I can't grok, I leave it :D

Re: [WIFI] Frisbee detects SSID, but doesn't get IP

Hi John, The reason it works for our cards is that the kernel list of cards (like my intel 2200pro) does not show them as WPA capable while they are. thus it does not load the appropriate encription library needed by wpa. Older cards aren't affected as they are pre WPA, and newer cards like my intel...

Re: [WIFI] Frisbee detects SSID, but doesn't get IP

Hi Lorico, Based on what you see: Wpa_supplicant failed to connect. Verify that the password you entered is correct and that your network card supports wpa_supplicant. The failure is with the wpa encription in WPA_Supplicant,not in dhcpcd. Try the following: in terminal, run modprobe lib80211_crypt_...

Re: [WIFI] Frisbee detects SSID, but doesn't get IP

Hi Lorico, Try running the following in terminal and see what you get, It can be useful in understanding where the failure is. dhcpcd -d -T Called by frisbee, dhcpcd handles the request for an address and dns servers from the router/modem... Here is a 'normal output'. [root@alphaos ~]# dhcpcd -d -T ...

Re: 11.0 (with geany, openbox-git) & 11.1 bugfix release

Hi Gooplusplus, In /root/.start I will set numlock to be off by default, it's easy to enable later if needed. For wireless connection, I'd need you or someone with Intel Wi-Fi Link 1000 chip, to test firmware from this page http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwlwifi/?n=Downloads Is it this...

Re: Emendo text editor

Emendo installed and working correctly as the sole editor in an installation of precise 5.7.1 with openbox and spacefm added and jwm/rox/pup_event_manager pulled I'm playing with. I tend to get in trouble with tabbed editors so I don't miss that and emendo pretty much covers what editing I do. Shoul...

Re: Emendo text editor

emendo 0.8.1 installed. I've made it the default editor in my install of 11. Geany does a lot but has always refused to open some system files which are clearly text http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=88778 so I've always had to have another editor on board to do just that. Emendo does...

Re: problem with menu

I ran up against this same problem. My save file had menu settings from 10? and text-editor and web-browser are removed from 11. see: http://alphaos.tuxfamily.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=743 . I added text-editor back in for the flexibility but just changed the menu call for web-browser to my ...
