Re: Disk Full... what now?

It seems that the max size for the safe-file is 2GB. What is the technical reason for this restriction? Also it seems to me that "/mnt/live/memory/data" shows the "real harddrive", can I use this normally or are there restrictions? Thanks BTW: sorry for the amount of questions I ...

Re: Disk Full... what now?

Understood, thank you.

However , this means that I can never utilize the space of my "real" harddrive partition (16GB) because I have only 4GB of ram.
Is this assumption correct?

Thank you for your help.

BTW: would be nice to have all this precious info in a Wiki...

Re: Disk Full... what now?

Something is goofy here. doing: df -h / on a fresh alphaOS (VM) install it tells me: Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on aufs 488M 26M 462M 6% / why is this 488M and the other one 93M? Will investigate further... edit the 488M are with an install without a savefile. Created the savefile with:...

Re: Disk Full... what now?

You could try with this du -sh /mnt/live/memory/changes/* and get size of top level directories inside save file. Did that and the outcome is: 1.0K /mnt/live/memory/changes/boot 1.0K /mnt/live/memory/changes/dev 461K /mnt/live/memory/changes/etc 3.0K /mnt/live/memory/changes/home 3.0K /mnt/live/mem...

Disk Full... what now?

Mia culpa, mia massima culpa! Is there some documentation that can be helpful on this or can someone explain to me what actually happened? I was able to increase the size of the changes.fs4 during boot so I suppose that's not it... Or should I increase it even more? Could it be that rootfs is the on...

AltYo - drop-down terminal emulator, written in vala

While searching the www for more vala/Gtk3 info I found this:
https://github.com/linvinus/AltYo
It's a drop-down terminal emulator and reminds me of Guake.
Guake is written in Python, AltYo is written in vala.

Compiled it.
Works.

Re: Vala Sucks Big Time

I'm like you also not a professional programmer, but would like to see the script where valac reports that error. In GTK3 they suggest using Gtk.Grid instead of Gtk.Box, though Gtk.Box is still supported, it will be deprecated in some of next versions. https://bugs.launchpad.net/maya/+bug/965469 I ...

Re: Vala Sucks Big Time

What would you suggest for a programming environment for GUI development then? Please take what I say now with a grain of salt as it is my point of view and your milage may vary... IMHO: Vala > Python Go > Python Go > Vala Vala and Go are compiled languages, but Go's compile time is extraordinary s...

Vala Sucks Big Time

Started to code in vala a few years ago when it was pretty new but stopped working with it a short while after because of the shortcomings of the programming language and compiler. As programming is not my profession I like tools that work because I don't have the time to fiddle around with the shor...
