Re: nvidia proprietary drivers (and LTS kernels)

Ok, LTS is just a thought, nothing more. No need for a 2nd version of course. I thought there could be a way, to select 2 kernels from the very first boot screen, never mind. Kernel: It is a kernel module that has to be compiled for every kernel used (if compatible by nvidia), there is no need to co...

nvidia proprietary drivers (and LTS kernels)

I know this is tough, but I will ask.. has someone tried to install (on sb or a permanent save-file) nvidia proprietary drivers? For example, I would need 340 branch, https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/nvidia-340xx-utils/ http://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/95165/en-us (I ...

Re: version 17.2

I have tried a bit 17.2, on my notebook This was the problem from 17.1 You are absolutely right, I have mixed 17.1 with 17.2 by mistake. Thanks for pointing this out and sorry for the frustration. Everything is working now, I will test further and report back if I will find something interesting.

Re: version 17.2

I have tried a bit 17.2, on my notebook only mousepad is working, usb mouse is not responding. Conky seems grafically broken at the beginning. Altering settings resets it and then it is working again. Vdev, i do not know what this is, but it seems that it delays booting a bit comparing to 16.

Re: compile patched modules for current kernel 3.14.1

just replace original with patched source files into the build directory (or patch them there) /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/build/[other_directory], in this case 2 source files patched. If you learn more, you would probably discover a way to replace the whole kernel , If you do so, let us know for examp...

Re: compile patched modules for current kernel 3.14.1

ok, no need for full kernel recompile, info about this is mostly distro specific and not so universal used info from: http://www.pixelbeat.org/docs/rebuild_kernel_module.html I used these commands to rebuild the ac.ko driver cd /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/build make oldconfig make prepare make modules_...

compile patched modules for current kernel 3.14.1

I've had difficulties compiling 2 single patched driver modules for current kernel 3.14.1 I could not find an easy way to do this without rebuilding the whole kernel those belong to "/lib/modules/3.14.1-ALPHAOS/source/drivers/acpi" directory: ac.c, acpi_platform.c I've attached those patch...

Is there an easy way to add link/files on the desktop?

Is there an easy way to add some custom shortcut/link and files on the desktop the classic way? I cannot find it as a feature anywhere. Any programs in arch repository that could do it? a feature request.
