Re: 12.2. Testing iso based on Linux Live Kit

added alphaos_live into the list and ran that grub4dosconfig. Here is the entry it created for my alphaos_live directory in my boot partition: title AlphaOS (sda1/alphaos_live) uuid 8313-20CB kernel /alphaos_live/boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/sda1 ro from=/alphaos_live initrd /alphaos_live/boot/initrfs.img...

Re: 12.2. Testing iso based on Linux Live Kit

I set save_file_activate before copy_to_ram in init. Thanks. toram works now with save file, only I don't really see speed improvement when using it. Thenks, init modified per above. Frugal install now working and saving correctly in /alphaos_live with from=/alphaos_live toram boot parameters. save...

Re: 12.2. Testing iso based on Linux Live Kit

I boot directly from ISO using grub2 that means my from boot code is from=_ISO/MAINMENU/AlphaSlax122.iso To get savefile working I changed in init to save_file_activate "$DATAMNT/$LIVEKITNAME" My savefile is on USB. Only vfat I got, No ext, My internal HD is ntfs. The system is very slow!...

Re: 12.2. Testing iso based on Linux Live Kit

Yes, that's great finding Scooby, :) one thing to mention is that menu.lst on usb (sdb1) must have bootcode from=alphaos.usb (or whatever you named that frugal installation folder) otherwise it would still boot alphaos from sda6. --- Script makepfile.sh for making save file is modified to work with...

Likewise here, unpacked .img, removed as above, repacked, and both the syslinux fat32 USB drive and the Grub4Dos fat32 SDD partition boot correctly.
Nice finding! Thanks.

Re: 12.2. Testing iso based on Linux Live Kit

Thanks Scooby and simargl, I've got the unpacking and packing going. Still puzzling over the fat32 problem. Same usb stick, same syslinux and extlinux.conf. Ext2 format boots perfectly, both find kernel and .img file ok, Fat32 hangs looking for the data files. Following is from live-linux.org The Li...

Re: 12.2. Testing iso based on Linux Live Kit

But how to define what partition to use, if alphaos is installed on two partitions or devices? I always give the working directory (on sda2) a slightly different name than the boot directory (on SDA1) to avoid that confusion. The copying/naming above was to try and unravel the fat32 question withou...

Re: 12.2. Testing iso based on Linux Live Kit

This menu.lst setup for grub4dos also works, without need for uuid... Tried this and I had a smooth booting without any problem :) . Would be hassle free if grub4dos is tweaked to generate the correct menu.lst entry though. Printing also works after renaming my cups.sfs file to cups.sb and then add...

Thanks! Looks good.
