Re: Next version of alphaos

It works without hacks? Yes, I tried it and it seems to work but I have not done any extensive testing and I will not use it regularly until it works with usbmode. do you have linux fs i.e. ext on your usb where you have alphaos system folder Yes, I have alphaos folder on an ext4 partition on my us...

Probably use with new boot parameter? or have it similar to savefile if a dir called changes is existent in alphaos boot dir then use it as sa...

Re: Next version of alphaos

Couldn't find it Got a server malfunction on repo link You did search it in repo and not on iso? What repo link are you referring to? I just extracted /lib/firmware from modules downloaded here: http://dl.porteus.org/x86_64/current/modules/ . Note that firmware is split between 000-kernel.xzm and 0...

Re: Next version of alphaos

I found out sim is using a custom linux-firmware module which is of size 2.7MB the on on arch is 24MB. Should I add all 24MB or only jonas's 7260 firmware i.e is it a problem if iso grows? iso could be reaching 200MB boundary soon? Also I saw in new linux-firmware b43 was missing What to do? The fi...

Re: Next version of alphaos

You do know that linux intelligently prefetches data into RAM so even without toram if you only booted with base modules and have like 4GB RAM you would feel no difference Yes, I know, so for me the main point of toram (which I don't normally use) would be if I want to remove the usb after boot is ...

Hmm, that is kind of unintuitive... Did this change at some point because here you said the opposite: http://alphaos.tuxfamily.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1067#p2651

Re: Next version of alphaos

I manually save the changes by creating an SB module. It can be done with ScoobyTools "sq-session" for example or "sbcomb" if you know the folder directly. Search for ScoobyTools in the forum if you want to look at it. Working really well... Ok, I misunderstood you before. I kno...

Re: Next version of alphaos

The link with toram is thin, but simply that if I don't manually save the changes every thing is lost. It also means that I can thinker with stuff, break things, and reboot to get it up and running again. Ah, so if you boot with toram, but without usbmode, changes are not saved automatically at reb...

Re: Next version of alphaos

I usually run in toram mode, so i get good speed and more importantly a fresh & clean OS every time I boot. What do you mean by "a fresh & clean OS" and how is this related to toram? I made an implementation before that would let you specify module/ directory as a bootparameter. T...

Re: Next version of alphaos

The audio problem turned out to be a bit silly... On this laptop, two sound cards are detected and alsa uses the one for hdmi output by default. To fix this I had to create a conf file in /etc/modprobe.d. Hmm, I guess I should do more testing before blaming problems on alphaos...
