Re: Porteus Nemesis as an alternative distribution

Was it already solved or you had to put in some time to get it to work? Manjaro solves this as a repository feature. But with porteus is not that easy. There is some kind of aufs "modules" alchemy here. There are some howto instructions, for slackware version, about how to recompile or co...

Porteus Nemesis as an alternative distribution

Sounds like a plan I have managed to solve this driver and kernel issue using an other, still experimental, but promising distribution. I have no intension to advertise it or anything, I am just making a quick last note, to inform users or visitors about a different, alternative distribution approa...

Re: Is there a way to mount rw a changes file?

Only the running one belongs to the union. As a copy it is just a raw file. Yes you can edit it as a normal drive as long as it is mounted as a loop device. Then replace the original from a no savefile session or from an other os and boot with it.

Re: Is there a way to mount rw a changes file?

It is a raw disk image file (not a squashfs etc) so..

find out the file system type, create a mount point directory
The command looks like:

mount -t ext4 -o loop /mnt/live/memory/data/linux/alphaos1/changes.fs4-v2 /mnt/live/memory/filesave1

Re: nvidia proprietary drivers (and LTS kernels)

I will try your compiled files again with xorg.conf editing. puppy method/script seems that has some incomatible parts so forget it.
I will report back if I will find something interesting.
Unfotunatelly without this driver external monitor does not work so I will try alternative plans. thanks

Is there a way to mount rw a changes file?

Is there a way to mount RW a changes file (a copy not the running one)? As a rescue editing, etc.

Re: nvidia proprietary drivers (and LTS kernels)

It seems it could work with some path redefinition. But "xorgwizard" does not exist in alphaos (is it compatible?). In any case this script shows the way this compile should work without so much trouble, even if some steps will need minor manual adjustments here. please take a look, and if...

Re: "permission denied" msg prevents boot

I think it happened when a base-devel.sb was created, msg remained even
after changes file deletion. I also did a flesh files extraction from
iso in the rare case of main files corruption.

Aur in 17.3 and pacman 5

I was trying to play with AUR in 17.3, through yaourt installation. It seems that there is a version conflict with pacman upgrade to version 5. It may be a problem in repository, I do not know Please check if there are any problems for the pacman upgrade. If I remember correct, makesb worked with au...
